Documentary Review — Apocalypse: The Second World War.

Being a history enthusiast, I have read and seen a lot of stuff about both World Wars and every time I go through new materials, I learn some new stuff. So when I saw that some stock footage was being restored and shown in a documentary, I was eager to see it. The very first scene is a real footage of 2 persons dragging a dead body, shows the cruelty of WW2 in this documentary

When I saw this documentary, I was completely blown away with effort on restoring all the original footage and story told by narrator in their chronological order. This can be used as an excellent study material in schools/colleges for younger generations to know the horrific nature of past events. It shows uncensored, declassified footage, fully restored coloured video masterpiece in HD with only exception being horrific images such as holocaust.

I’m still amazed by the footage captured in 1940s on the aircraft by the cameraman while the pilot is shooting down enemy planes.
Videos of cities being bombed both by Allied & Axis powers are both stunning & horrific.

Words fall short to describe this masterful Mini-series put well together by Daniel Costelle and Isabelle Clarke.
We have to pay respects to war correspondents, soldiers, resistance fighters and private citizens who took actual footage of the war and provided it to us.

Watching this feels like being transported in the past in a time machine where you can watch the most gruesome thing happened in the history of mankind in the comfort of your living room.

Verdict: 10/10 and a “MUST WATCH” recommendation.
